Mallorca marks a year of 24-hour children’s palliative care
Palma, Mallorca: The Balearic Islands’ children’s palliative care service marks its first anniversary on Saturday, 10 October. It provides care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Balearic president Marga Prohens joins the first palliative care meeting organised by Projecte Junts at Palma’s Congress Palace.
In a social media post, Prohens praises the families whose persistence helped bring about round-the-clock care. She says they show “courage and love” every day, and commends the health staff who care for children and support their families. She also says emotional intelligence cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence.
Prohens singles out Mari Polo, president of the Estrella de na Marta association, for drawing attention to the need for the service. She thanks Projecte Junts for organising the meeting and the children’s palliative care team at Son Espases Hospital for its work.
