Mallorca Christmas vouchers: Calvià residents get €40 off
In Calvià, Mallorca, residents stand to save €40 on Christmas shopping with four vouchers for local shops. The council announced the return of its ‘Calvià lo Vale’ scheme on Wednesday, 14 October. Each voucher takes €10 off a €20 purchase: the council pays €10 and the shopper pays the other €10.
Local shops are expected to start accepting the vouchers from 30 November. The council has yet to say how many will be available. A website will list participating shops; around 60 joined previous rounds.
The council has renewed its agreement with the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce, which will handle applications, run the voucher platform and arrange payments to shops. Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual says the scheme aims to keep spending in Calvià. He says more shops stay open in winter each year and some draw buyers from other areas.
