Ciutadella health centre project contract signed
The Balearic Health Service (IBSalut) and SV60 Arquitectos signed a contract on 24 August 2026 to prepare the technical project and oversee construction of a new health centre in Ciutadella, Menorca. Work under the agreement is due to begin on 1 September, with the final design expected within six months.
IBSalut director Javier Ureña and a representative of the architectural firm signed the agreement to develop the Nura proposal, which won the ideas competition for the future facility.
Design contract and construction plans
The contract is worth more than €1.3 million, including €612,000 for the technical project and almost €750,000 for construction supervision. The final plans must develop the architectural and operational criteria selected by the competition jury.
The centre will be built on the Santa Rita site provided by Ciutadella Town Council. Construction is estimated at €20 million and forms part of the Health Service’s 2024-2027 investment programme.
Larger site with expanded services
The planned building will cover 9,430 square metres across two floors, with a basement car park for 250 vehicles. It is designed as connected volumes around open spaces and internal courtyards.
The facility will include family medicine and nursing, paediatrics, mental health, dental care and hospital-specialist consultations, alongside rehabilitation, physiotherapy, a day hospital, dialysis, radiology and outpatient surgery. It will also house primary-care urgent services and an operational base for SAMU 061, and is expected to be three times the size of the existing Canal Salat Health Centre.
