Portocolom cocaine arrests: two remanded in custody
A man and a woman have been remanded in custody over alleged cocaine dealing from a restaurant in Portocolom, Mallorca. The Guardia Civil announced the arrests on 25 August after an investigation known as Operation Sotim.
The suspects, aged 57 and 58, are under investigation for suspected drug trafficking and money laundering. A court ordered their provisional detention without bail.
Restaurant search finds drugs and cash
The investigation began after information suggested cocaine was being sold regularly at the hospitality venue. The Balearic Islands command of the Guardia Civil said initial inquiries found signs consistent with drug trafficking and money laundering.
Following a court-authorised search of the restaurant, officers recovered several doses of narcotics and cash.
Dog finds cocaine prepared for sale
A Guardia Civil sniffer dog found further portions of cocaine that had allegedly been prepared for sale, along with items said to have been used to weigh the substance.
The force said the operation dismantled a highly active drug-selling point operating under the appearance of a hospitality business, preventing further distribution to consumers in Portocolom and the surrounding area.
