Mallorca cocaine stop: police hold driver with seven wraps
Seven individually bagged wraps of cocaine were hidden beneath a car floor mat in El Toro, Calvià, on Mallorca. Guardia Civil officers arrested the 56-year-old driver on suspicion of drug dealing after stopping his vehicle during a routine crime-prevention patrol on Monday.
The driver, described by the Guardia Civil as being of European origin, appeared nervous and evasive when officers stopped him. Checks also showed he had numerous previous convictions for drug trafficking, the force said.
Officers then searched the car and found the seven wraps, which they believe may have been prepared for sale. The man was also carrying cash in small-denomination notes, which the Guardia Civil said came from drug sales.
He was taken before the judicial authority after his arrest.
