In Palma, Mallorca, police arrest a 38-year-old passenger after finding cocaine beside his seatbelt buckle during an early Friday car stop. Officers pull the car over because both the driver and passenger are eating while it is moving, Palma Local Police say in a statement on Monday 5 October.

As officers approach the window, they see the passenger moving his left hand nervously between the seats. They ask both men to get out and search the car. A bag on the passenger seat holds five grams of cocaine. Two more packets are tucked between the seat and the seatbelt buckle.

Officers find another five-gram packet and a smaller dose in the back, then two more cocaine packets and marijuana in a dashboard compartment. They seize 12.77 grams of cocaine and 0.85 grams of marijuana in total. They also find banknotes in different pockets on both men.

Police say the drugs and the way they are divided up, along with the money, lead them to arrest the passenger. They say he has a previous record for drug offences. After completing their paperwork, officers take him to the National Police station in the Playa district for the next steps before he is brought before the judicial authorities.
