Eivissa councillor quits after husband's arrest
Eivissa, Ibiza: councillor Anna Ferrer resigns after her husband’s arrest, and the mayor faces questions over why he took ten days to act. On Tuesday, 6 October 2026, the local Socialist Party (PSOE) demands an explanation from mayor Rafa Triguero. It says the account he has given so far is not enough.
Triguero said on Monday that Ferrer had stepped down for personal reasons. But the Socialists say he and his People’s Party (PP) already knew she wanted to leave her post. Why, they ask, was her resignation not made public sooner?
The PSOE wants Triguero to set out what happened and what decisions he made after learning of the arrest. It says announcing Ferrer’s resignation does not close the matter. The party also accuses him of speaking publicly only after a case has come to light, and says people should not be expected to move on while questions remain unanswered.
