Deixalles integration contracts reach 162 in Balearic Islands

Companies linked to the Deixalles Foundation signed 162 integration contracts with people in vulnerable circumstances across the Balearic Islands in 2025. The Deixalles integration contracts, involving 124 men and 38 women, were presented in Palma, Mallorca, on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

Pep Falcó, representing the foundation’s integration companies, said each contract represented a person moving beyond a vulnerable situation. The foundation described the figures as evidence of the social economy becoming more established in the islands.

Contracts across three companies

Deixalles Serveis Ambientals accounted for 87 contracts, including 65 for men and 22 for women. Its manager, María Jaume, said 53% of those recruited were aged between 45 and 65, while 91% had not been receiving benefits.

Deixalles Inserció i Triatge recruited 58 people: 48 men and 10 women. More than half had socio-economic difficulties, according to manager Llucia Carreras, including people who had been living on the streets and others with undiagnosed mental-health problems.

Housing remains unresolved for some workers

Carreras said some employees who had been homeless continued to live on the streets after signing their contracts because they had not found accommodation. She said their circumstances helped explain their commitment to work, as they wanted to change their situation.

Triamdetot, the third integration company linked to the foundation, added 17 contracts, with 11 men and six women recruited. Some 59% had socio-economic problems and almost 95% were not receiving benefits.
