Mallorca drug raid: two flee in Palma, €3,300 seized
In Son Banya, Palma, Mallorca, police seize 40 grams of cocaine and more than €3,300 after a man and woman flee a drug operation late in the week. Officers catch both and arrest them on suspicion of drug trafficking, Spain’s National Police say.
Uniformed and plain-clothes officers are watching huts used to sell drugs when they see the pair enter one. The two run as they leave and spot the police. The woman throws away a waist bag before officers stop her, but they recover it. Another patrol stops the man before he can leave Son Banya.
Officers find cocaine and nearly €2,700 hidden in a fold of the man’s trousers. The woman’s bag holds more than €750, 29 packets of marijuana, more than 182 grams of hashish, MDMA and tablets for erectile dysfunction. Searches of two selling points also turn up drugs, equipment used to prepare and sell them, and a notebook containing notes.
Police take both suspects to a police station. A court in Palma had already issued a warrant for the woman’s arrest.
