Balearic Islands drug seizures reach six tonnes in 2025

State security forces seized six tonnes of cocaine, hashish and marijuana across the Balearic Islands, Spain, during 2025, according to the annual drugs report. The operations led to 923 arrests and 15,257 complaints being filed.

The figures were published by the Centre for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organised Crime, an Interior Ministry body. The Balearic Islands accounted for just over 4% of Spain’s total arrests and complaints in both categories.

Hashish accounted for the largest haul

Hashish was the substance recovered in the greatest quantity, at 4.65 tonnes, up 52.26% on the previous year. Authorities also seized 1.14 tonnes of cocaine, an increase of 811.95%, and 211 kilograms of marijuana, up 43.6%.

Other seizures included 163 litres of nitrous oxide, 133,183 units of methamphetamine, 105 kilograms of ecstasy and 11 kilograms of ketamine.

Sharp rises for some substances, falls for others

The amount of ecstasy seized rose by 12,264.17%, while nitrous oxide increased by 796.95% and methamphetamine units by 868.89%. Authorities also reported increases in amphetamines, 2C-B, cannabis pollen and GHB.

Some substances recorded lower seizure totals. Officers recovered 425 grams of heroin, down 36.41%, alongside two kilograms of powdered or rock methamphetamine and four grams of crack.
