EAPN Baleares condemns migrant hate after Ceuta violence
EAPN Baleares has condemned hate speech and violence linked to the situation in Ceuta, warning that children and young migrants are among those most affected. In a statement issued in Palma on 31 August 2026, the inclusion network said social tension was rising and violent incidents had been reported in several parts of the city. It also denounced the criminalisation and dehumanisation of migrants.
The group said such messages feed a stigmatising portrayal of migrants that does not reflect reality or the law. It stressed that social organisations working on the ground are providing essential basic care, protection and support to people in extreme vulnerability.
EAPN Baleares said no child should be treated as a threat or used as ammunition in party-political battles. Protecting children, it said, is both a legal and moral duty with no exceptions.
The network called on public authorities to coordinate a humane response that respects the law and puts more resources into care and protection. It urged political parties not to make statements that deepen confrontation, and called on the public to reject false information, violence and discrimination.
Human rights, human dignity and the protection of children are not negotiable, EAPN Baleares said, urging social organisations to continue their work.
