Palma EMT shuttle unable to cross Bonanova bridge

Palma, Mallorca’s EMT shuttle between Porto Pi and Calle Saridakis in Bonanova cannot take the direct route because its vehicles exceed the bridge weight limit. Palma mobility councillor Toni Deudero said on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, that the restriction also affects buses carrying 15 passengers.

The Council of Mallorca has barred vehicles above a set weight from using the bridge between Porto Pi and Bonanova. The shuttle is covering the diverted 46 and 47 services, but Deudero said it cannot restore the lost bridge connection.

Residents report lengthy waits

Residents of Calle Saridakis have complained about the time spent waiting for the shuttle at the Porto Pi stop, according to Última Hora. They also said they must walk to either end of the street to board it.

Deudero said the city would consider alternative proposals, but added that normal service could only return once the bridge reopens.

EMT stop screens face new tender

Deudero also responded to criticism from Palma’s Socialist group over passenger-information screens installed at EMT stops three years ago that have never operated.

There are 222 screens in place, he said, with 88 entering a new tender process because of installation faults.
