Erasmus+ youth exchange brings 30 teenagers to Calvià

Thirty teenagers aged 14 to 16 from Calvià, Mallorca, and Moura, Portugal, will take part in the Erasmus+ Cultura Viva exchange during Calvià’s Rei en Jaume festivities. The Portuguese group will be in Calvià from 28 August to 6 September for educational, cultural, environmental, sporting and leisure activities.

The project brings together 15 young people from each municipality and has an investment of more than €27,000. Two Portuguese accompanying adults and four youth workers from Calvià Town Council’s Youth Service will support and lead the activities.

The programme includes a stay at the s'Estanyol holiday camp and an overnight bivouac at the public Galatzó estate. Participants will try Spanish and Portuguese traditional games, make siurells and take part in activities at Sa Ràpita beach.

Visits are planned to Valldemossa, Sóller, Sa Foradada, Puig de sa Morisca, Palma and Bellver Castle in Palma. Workshops in ball de bot and xeremies, cultural evenings focused on Spain and Portugal, and joint participation in the Rei en Jaume parades will introduce the group to Mallorcan traditions.

Participants will work in mixed ‘family groups’ to share their experiences, assess the programme and suggest improvements.
