Palma, Mallorca: A fragile artefact is proving hard to borrow for the Festa de l'Estendard's 800th anniversary in 2029. Mayor Jaime Martínez and deputy mayor and culture councillor Javier Bonet met Patrimonio Nacional president Ana de la Cueva and Royal Collections Gallery director Víctor Cageao at the Royal Palace on Tuesday to discuss the celebration. Palma City Council says the artefact, known as the cimera, has particular conservation needs that make a loan difficult.

Martínez still wants a major anniversary celebration. He asked Patrimonio Nacional to work with the council on ways to mark it, but the council has announced no agreement to lend the cimera.
