Mallorca fake passports: four held after cash handover
Mallorca: Four people are arrested after a police officer sees a man hand three women an envelope and cash at a shopping centre in Palma, Mallorca, on Monday. Inside the envelope, officers find three fake French passports. The bundle contains around 800 euros, the National Police say.
The three women had already come to police attention on 29 September, when they tried to board a flight to the UK using false passports. Officers saw them again on Monday in the Arenal area of Palma and followed them through streets in Playa de Palma to the shopping centre.
Police arrest all four on suspicion of document forgery. The man is also suspected of facilitating illegal immigration. A search of his hotel room turns up more cash, bringing the total seized to 4,000 euros. The National Police’s General Commissariat for Immigration and Borders is coordinating the investigation.
