Mallorca: father jailed for abusing son in Palma
Mallorca: Spain’s Supreme Court upholds a 10-year, nine-month prison sentence for a father who sexually abused his underage son in Palma in 2015 and 2016. The man travelled from Madrid every two weeks to see the boy and assaulted him when they were alone. The child needed psychological treatment for several years.
The man was not legally recognised as the boy’s father. He remained on good terms with the child’s mother, his former partner, who let him stay at her home. On one visit, he stayed in a hotel and took the boy with him. Some of the assaults involved penetration.
The Supreme Court rejected the man’s appeal, following an earlier ruling by the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands that upheld the findings of the Provincial Court. No further appeal is possible. The man must also pay the boy 20,000 euros in compensation.
