Palma, Mallorca, puts the protection and care of feminist activists at the centre of a debate on 14 October at 18.00. Nallelu Guadalupe Tello Méndez and Magali Jiménez Sánchez, both from Casa La Serena, will be among the main speakers. Margalida Ramis and Yetlanezi Hernández will also take part.

Casa La Serena is a place where women human rights defenders can rest, recover and heal. The Entrepobles Association and the Mesoamerican Initiative of Women Human Rights Defenders are organising the debate, which also concerns activists in other social movements.

The discussion, titled “Defender la vida desde los cuidados”, will later travel to other parts of Mallorca, Catalonia and the Valencian Community. Organisers want to connect experiences from Mesoamerica with work in those places on climate justice, defending territory, feminism and community care networks.

At its heart is protección integral feminista (PIF), or comprehensive feminist protection: the idea that defending human rights also means protecting, caring for and supporting the people doing that work.
