Ferreries horse incident leaves teenager in intensive care
A 17-year-old is being treated in the intensive care unit at Mateu Orfila Hospital after being struck by a horse during the Sant Bartomeu jaleo in Ferreries, Menorca, Spain. The incident occurred during the town’s patron saint festivities.
Balearic Islands Government president Marga Prohens wished the teenager a swift recovery in a post on X on Monday, 24 August 2026. Prohens, who attended the celebrations, also congratulated Ferreries residents and thanked the town hall and those involved in organising the festivities.
She took part in the solemn mass and the traditional Beguda de Caixers at the town hall during the main day of the Sant Bartomeu celebrations.
