Playa de Palma fire leaves six with smoke inhalation

Six people suffered mild smoke inhalation in a fire at a residential building in Playa de Palma, Palma, Mallorca, on Saturday 22 August 2026. All were treated at the scene and none required hospital treatment.

The fire began at about 18.45 in an inner courtyard on the ground floor of the five-storey building in Calle Trasimé, before spreading. Palma Firefighters brought the blaze under control and continued extinguishing work.

Emergency crews evacuated five residents. Another six people were initially unable to leave and took refuge on the roof until firefighters could tackle the fire. The final number treated for smoke inhalation, revised upwards after 20.30, included three women and three men.

The Local Police and National Police also attended the incident.
