Mallorca flight delays as bad weather disrupts airports

Bad weather caused flight delays and diversions at Palma Airport in Palma de Mallorca, as well as at Menorca and Eivissa airports, on Monday, 24 August. Palma was the worst affected airport, according to the airport operator Aena.

Aena’s Infovuelos service recorded 80 and 76 delayed flights at Palma after 19:00, with further delays reported earlier in the day. Menorca and Eivissa also logged dozens of incidents, although fewer than Palma.

One aircraft due to land in Palma had to return to Barcelona because of the weather. Air traffic controllers increased the intervals between departures and landings in response to the conditions.
