Formentera forest fires trigger overnight emergency response

Fire Service of the Consell de Formentera crews attended two forest fires on Formentera, in the Balearic Islands, overnight into Tuesday, 25 August. The incidents were reported at Camí Vell de la Mola and camino de ses Vinyes.

The first alert was received at 23.38 for the fire at Camí Vell de la Mola. Two firefighters and a corporal were sent with a rapid intervention vehicle and a heavy rural fire engine.

A second call followed at 00.24 for a fire on camino de ses Vinyes. One firefighter and a corporal attended initially, joined by the crew from the first incident once their work there had finished.

Staff from the Balearic Institute of Nature (Ibanat), the Local Police, the Civil Guard and Civil Protection also took part in the operation. The latter fire was extinguished at 05.51.
