Formentera flooding: La Savina street hit, centres shut

Flooding hits Calle de Ponent in La Savina, Formentera, at 03.40 on Monday, 19 October: a sports centre and day centre close, and vehicle inspections are suspended. The Formentera Island Council confirms the flooding in the street.
By 22.00 on Sunday, the council had received 56 reports. Its firefighters carried out about 40 call-outs. Two involved fires of electrical origin; the rest involved flooding and fallen trees.
A section of the Can Marroig path is closed, but no roads are closed at present. The council is checking paths across the island for possible damage.
