Formentera’s health centre is set for €4.48 million of building work: the Balearic government approves the contracting process and spending on Friday, 9 October, for a facility designed to serve 15,000 people.

The plans call for the centre to be refurbished and expanded. It will cover 600 square metres beside Formentera Hospital, with an internal connection between the two buildings.

The government also approves the contracting process and spending for a Bons Aires health centre and primary-care emergency service at the Psychiatric Hospital site. That project has a budget of €27.89 million and will replace the current s’Escorxador health centre. The Balearic Health Ministry says population growth and ageing facilities have made new premises necessary.

Budgets for both projects were revised to comply with a 1 April 2026 decree aimed at easing the economic effects of the war in the Middle East. The approvals clear the way for the contracts to be put out to tender; the ministry gives no date for construction to begin.
