Free repair cafés for clothes and gadgets in Balearics
Responsible for this content: Frank Menze
The Balearic Islands, Spain, have free repair meet-ups on Saturday 17 October: experienced volunteers show people how to mend clothes and small electrical and electronic devices themselves. The events mark the tenth anniversary of International Repair Day.
The meet-ups are known as repair cafés. They are among events planned across Spain, with locations shown on the Repair Day activity map.
The organisations behind the day want to strengthen the right to repair and help products last longer. In Spain, each person generates 19 kilos of textile waste a year — roughly 60 garments.
