Mallorca fur protest targets Louis Vuitton in Palma
Just over ten people protest outside Louis Vuitton on Passeig del Born in Palma, Mallorca, on Friday afternoon, calling on the fashion group to stop using animal fur in clothes and accessories. Animal rights groups Arde and Satya Animal organised the action.
The protest is part of an international campaign. Arde spokesperson Julia Elizalde told Europa Press that demonstrations had taken place in several countries over recent weeks and peaked during Milan Fashion Week. She criticised Louis Vuitton as the only major fashion group yet to make a formal commitment to remove animal fur from its range.
The two groups have more protests planned in Mallorca this weekend. On Saturday, they plan a march in Palma calling for an end to horse-drawn carriages. On Sunday, they plan to gather outside Marineland in Calvià, Mallorca, to demand an end to dolphin shows.
