Mallorca: Guardia Civil parade honours fallen officers
In Alcúdia, Mallorca, the Guardia Civil honours officers who died on duty on Saturday 10 October and closes the ceremony with a parade. Guests and members of the public gather on Avenida Príncipe de España for the event, held ahead of the feast day of the force’s patron saint, the Virgin of Pilar, on Monday.
An honour guard opens the ceremony. General Alejandro Hernández, the Guardia Civil’s regional commander, presides alongside Balearic government president Marga Prohens, the Spanish government’s delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez, and Alcúdia mayor Fina Linares.
The force presents decorations and pays tribute to officers who died in service. Representatives of all its specialist units present in the Balearic Islands take part in the closing parade. In a social media post, Prohens thanks the Guardia Civil for its service and also remembers the officers who died.
