HBX Group helps small hotels seek green certification

Small hotels in HBX Group’s network can get expert help towards internationally recognised sustainability certification. The travel technology company has agreed to work with Bioscore, a specialist in environmental, social and governance matters, under a deal reported from Madrid on 6 October 2026. The offer is aimed particularly at small and medium-sized hotels that lack the resources or technical knowledge to handle certification alone.

Through its Sustainable Certified Hotels Programme, HBX Group will help hotels without certification review what they already do and prepare for the required audits. Bioscore will advise them on adapting their processes to its sustainability framework before they undergo independent assessments.

The deal comes as new European consumer protection rules, in force since 27 September 2026, set stricter requirements for environmental claims and sustainability labels. HBX Group and Bioscore say hotels certified to recognised standards perform better on measures including overnight stays and gross sales than hotels without verified labels.

Taking part is voluntary. HBX Group says it will continue to recognise certifications aligned with international standards and frameworks, including the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and Travalyst.
