La Mola heat refuge: 498,000-euro tender opens

La Mola’s urban park and the playground at CEIP El Pilar are in line for a 498,000-euro heat refuge overhaul. On 7 September, Formentera Council opened the tender for work intended to add protection from heat and create a meeting space for the La Mola community. Companies can submit bids until 21 September at 21.00.
The project covers more greenery, shaded areas and places to sit, aiming to reduce the impact of heat and improve comfort in both spaces. The work is scheduled to take eight months.
Formentera Council says the scheme goes beyond refurbishing a school playground or park. It is intended to reshape the area for a reality increasingly marked by episodes of heat.
