Palma home help service reaches 50,500 hours monthly

Palma, Mallorca’s home help service for people with care needs is set to reach 50,500 hours a month. The Balearic government has authorised fourteen and a half million euros to renew four agreements for the service, planned to run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027. Government spokesman Antoni Costa announced the decision after the Consell de Govern meeting on 28 August.

The home help service, known as SAD, supports people in their own homes with everyday tasks. It includes personal care and, alongside that, help with household needs.

Four providers cover 39,500 hours

The four agreements being processed add up to 39,500 hours each month. T'Ajuda is allocated 5,000 hours, Treballadores Socials de la Part Forana Societat Cooperativa 10,000, Institut de Treball Social i de Serveis Socials, known as Intress, 7,000, and Servisar Servicios Sociales, S.L.U. 17,500.

Those hours are added to the agreement with Arrels i Ales, which had already gone through the Consell de Govern.

Support aimed at keeping people at home

With all the agreements in place, Palma’s home help service will provide 50,500 hours a month. The government said qualified, supervised staff will support users’ independence and quality of life.

The service is also intended to help people with care needs remain in their familiar surroundings.
