Ferreries horse accident puts 17-year-old in intensive care
A 17-year-old girl is in intensive care after being struck by a horse during the Sant Bartomeu festivities in Ferreries, Menorca, on Monday morning. The incident happened at Pla de l’Església, and the teenager was admitted to the intensive care unit at Hospital Mateu Orfila.
The Menorca Health Area said she suffered a traumatic brain injury. Municipal sources said she lost her balance after the horse struck her and hit her head in the fall.
It is not known whether she struck the ground or a wall. Ferreries is holding its traditional Sant Bartomeu celebrations, with the horse jaleos among Monday’s main events.
