Palma protest calls for end to horse carriages
Horse-carriage opponents gathered outside Palma Cathedral on Saturday, demanding that Palma City Council, known as Cort, set a clear timetable to end the service. Satya Animal and Progeso en Verde organised the demonstration.
Protesters chanted against animal exploitation and held signs saying animals should not be used as transport or tourist attractions. In their manifesto, the campaigners said electric carriages offered an alternative and urged the council to act rather than make further promises.
Satya Animal also called for the horses’ future to be secured and for their permanent withdrawal to be made possible. The group said it would hold further demonstrations every Saturday in September until Cort gives a clear response and firm commitments.
