Palma hospital theft suspect hits two health workers

A man accused of stealing from a patient allegedly hit two emergency health workers after they caught up with him at a hospital in Palma, Mallorca, police said.

National Police officers arrested the man on Saturday afternoon after hospital security staff held him in the emergency department. The two women told officers they had seen him take a wallet and other personal belongings from a patient being treated in a care bay.

When they challenged him, he ran off, police said. The women followed and caught up with him, before he allegedly struck them.

Hospital security staff then restrained the man and kept him there until police arrived. Officers identified him at the scene and arrested him on suspicion of violent robbery.
