Mallorca hotels look to data for better service and sales
Mallorca’s hotels want their data to work harder: hoteliers, technology specialists and students meet at the Aubamar Palma Resort in Palma, Mallorca, on Thursday to explore better guest service, more revenue and smoother daily work. The Mallorca hotel federation, Federación Empresarial Hotelera de Mallorca, and the Hotel Technology Institute, Instituto Tecnológico Hotelero, organise the practical session.
The discussion moves from the value of each booking and extra sales to offers tailored to guests. It also covers digital work processes, how rooms are managed, game-style ways to involve staff and new uses for artificial intelligence.
María José Aguiló, the federation’s executive vice-president, says hotels have already collected the data. Now they need to clean it up and choose what helps them run their businesses and what brings value to guests. The federation says the goal is to create more value, rather than simply grow in volume, by repositioning assets, broadening what hotels offer and reaching new market segments.
Technology specialists present examples of how hotels use these tools in their work, while hoteliers can put their own challenges to them. Students from the Balearic School of Hospitality get a close look at how the industry uses data before they begin their careers in the coming months.
