Ibiza beatification for 20 priests: Prohens to attend
Ibiza Cathedral hosts a beatification ceremony for 20 priests from Ibiza and Formentera at 11.00 on Saturday: Balearic president Marga Prohens plans to attend. The priests are Joan Torres Torres and 19 others described as martyrs, the Balearic government says.
Cardinal Marcello Semeraro will preside. Gabriel Le Senne, president of the Balearic Parliament, is also expected, along with Ibiza island council president Vicent Marí and Formentera island council president Óscar Portas.
Later, at around 17.30, Prohens plans to attend a breast cancer benefit concert in Port d’Andratx on Mallorca. Andratx mayor Estefanía Gonzalvo and Jaime Bellido, vice-president of the Balearic provincial board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, are due to welcome her.
