IBSalut employment data agreement for sick leave decisions

IBSalut has agreed to receive social-security affiliation and employment information to support doctors assessing sick leave cases in Palma, in the Balearic Islands. The agreement involving the National Social Security Institute and the General Social Security Treasury was published in Spain’s Official State Gazette on Tuesday, 25 August.

Under the arrangement, family doctors and primary-care staff in the Balearic Islands will be able to consult information on a patient’s post, occupation and usual work when making an assessment. Previously, doctors relied largely on workers’ own verbal accounts of their duties.

The additional information is intended to make decisions more objective when issuing, confirming or ending certificates in temporary incapacity cases.
