Palma school gains €2.8m-plus vocational training block

IES Ses Estacions in Palma has gained new classrooms for vocational training after an expansion costing more than €2.8 million. The work finished a few weeks ago, and Education and Universities Minister Antoni Vera visited the school on Monday. The new block stands beside the original institute building and has a ground floor plus two upper floors.

More room for vocational courses

The extension gives the school space for basic vocational training in administrative services, as well as courses in administrative management, administration and finance, and executive assistance. It also includes a flexible classroom intended to ease pressure on ESO and Bachillerat teaching.

More Balearic school work planned

At the start of the school year, extensions at IES Sant Marçal in Marratxí and IES Marc Ferrer in Formentera are also due to enter use. A new integrated vocational training centre is set to open in Ciutadella.

The Education and Universities Ministry says it has other projects worth €85 million under way, including extensions at CEIP Pare Bartomeu Pou in Algaida, CEIP Els Molins in s'Arracó and CEIP Sant Carles in Santa Eulària des Riu. Major work is also due to start soon at IES Sant Antoni de Portmany and IES Josep Font i Tries in Esporles, while CEIP Mestre Guillem Galmés in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar is set for refurbishment.
