Across the Balearic Islands, international arrivals reach around 14.4 million for the nine months, up 2.6%. Almost 2.3 million arrive in September.

Low-cost flights grow faster

Most international passengers arriving in the Balearics use low-cost airlines. They account for 10.1 million arrivals from January to September, up 3.6%. Around 7.5 million of them land at Palma de Mallorca Airport, a rise of 3.3%.

Traditional airlines carry fewer than 4.3 million international passengers to or from the Balearics over the same period, up 0.4%.

Britain and Germany favour the islands

In September, the Balearics are the leading Spanish destination for air passengers from Britain and Germany. The islands draw 25.3% of those from Britain and 45.8% of those from Germany.

Across Spain, international air arrivals rise 5.1% in September to 11.5 million. The Balearics’ 2.6% increase is smaller, but Mallorca’s airport continues to account for most of the islands’ arrivals.
