La Vuelta 2026: Enric Mas leads Movistar Team
Enric Mas will lead Movistar Team at the 81st La Vuelta a España, which runs from 22 August to 13 September and begins with an individual time trial in Monaco. The 31-year-old Balearic rider will target the general classification after the team announced its eight-man line-up in Madrid on Tuesday, 18 August.
Mas has finished runner-up three times at La Vuelta, in 2018, 2021 and 2022, and was third in 2024. He arrives in Monaco after taking 17th at the Clásica de San Sebastián and fifth at the Vuelta a Burgos.
Uijtdebroeks and Romeo set for Movistar debuts
Cian Uijtdebroeks, Iván Romeo, Pablo Castrillo, Raúl García, Jorge Arcas, Carlos Canal and Orluis Aular will support Mas. Uijtdebroeks will make his first La Vuelta appearance for Movistar Team after joining in October 2025 and leaving the Tour de France because of illness.
Romeo will also make his La Vuelta debut after flu prevented him from starting the Tour de France. The Valladolid time-trial specialist was third at the Tour of Poland and will aim for results in the time trials and selected stages.
Castrillo returns after two stage wins
Castrillo will start his third La Vuelta, having won two stages in the 2024 edition. In 2026, he became Spanish time-trial champion.
García arrives after a Tour de France marked by repeated breakaway attempts, while Canal is preparing for his fifth La Vuelta. Sprinter Aular and Arcas complete Movistar Team's selection.
