In Lloseta, Mallorca, a house sale puts €120,000 in one contract and just €20,000 in a deed signed before a notary on the same day, prosecutors say. Six people accused of defrauding the owner face a preliminary hearing at the Provincial Court of Palma on Thursday, 22 October 2026, at 9.30am. Prosecutors want each of them jailed for five years.

Two contracts, two prices

The case dates back to 2014. According to the prosecution, one of the accused acted as an estate agent and introduced two prospective buyers to the owner and her husband. The woman signed a contract without legal advice. It set the price at €120,000: €7,000 upfront and the rest in two payment documents for €56,500 each.

Prosecutors say the documents were filled out so the seller could not collect the money. One named her as the person who had to pay. The other named the buyer as the person due to receive payment.

A different contract signed before a notary that day named two other accused as buyers and gave the price as €20,000. Of that sum, cheques totalling €7,000 were made out to the seller. The house was later registered in the names of two of the accused, who tried to sell it for €160,000 and €112,000.

Prosecutors seek the house’s return

Prosecutors also seek a fine of about €2,400 for each defendant and want the transactions declared void. If the woman cannot get the house back, they are seeking €113,000 in compensation for her.
