359 projects: Madrid releases architecture funding list

Madrid has released a provisional ranking for architecture funding worth two-and-a-half million euros. The list covers 359 projects submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda’s latest call for work that promotes, researches or explains architecture. It was published on 4 September.

Projects scoring more than 50 points have cleared the assessment stage, but that does not mean they will receive money. The final cut-off will depend on the available budget and the final decision on which costs can be funded.

A panel led by Iñaqui Carnicero, Secretary-General for Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture, assessed the proposals. The ranking separates applications above 50 points from those that did not pass assessment.

Applicants will be notified electronically and have ten days to challenge the provisional decision. The ministry says it will publish the final list of successful projects in the coming weeks.

Successful applicants will receive the grant as a single advance payment, but must document all project costs, including spending above the grant amount. Activities must normally be completed within one year of the award, although work carried out since 1 January 2025 can also qualify if it meets the rules.

The call also allows partial funding for some projects, a change intended to spread public support across more initiatives.
