Mallorca: Magaluf hotel rape case goes to trial
A man faces seven years in prison over an alleged rape at a hotel in Magaluf, Calvià, on Mallorca: his trial opens in Palma on Thursday. The second chamber of the Balearic Islands Provincial Court hears the case on Thursday and Friday from 10.00. Prosecutors also seek €6,000 in compensation for the woman.
According to the prosecution, the man met the woman at a pool party before inviting her to his hotel room on the afternoon of 15 July. She suddenly lost consciousness after consuming a large quantity of cocaine and vodka. Prosecutors allege he then raped her while she was unconscious, on as many as two occasions. They have charged him with sexual abuse.
