Mallorca heat warning as 37 degrees arrive Monday

Much of Mallorca faces a yellow heat warning on Monday as temperatures are forecast to reach 37 degrees. Ibiza and Formentera are under the same warning. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, says the heat will stay unusually high for the time of year.

The warning covers the Balearics and nine other autonomous communities. Temperatures are expected to pass 35 degrees across large areas of southern and north-eastern Spain and the islands, while the Guadalquivir area could reach 40 degrees.

High pressure is driving mainly clear or lightly clouded skies across the country. Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera remain on heat alert for Monday, while maximum temperatures are forecast to fall on Menorca.
