Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, faces a housing access crisis: regional president Marga Prohens plans to address it in her final general policy debate of this term. Balearic government spokesman Antoni Costa confirmed the plan on Friday, 16 October 2026, in Palma, Mallorca, after a government meeting. He said Prohens would focus on the issues worrying people across the islands, with housing among the most serious.

Prohens will also take stock of her time in office before regional elections scheduled for May 2027. Opposition parties want her to account for her housing policies and measures to tackle overcrowding caused by tourism.
