Mallorca schools get €624,641 for roof repairs

Leaking roofs, damaged ceilings and a cracked stone façade are among the problems being tackled at schools across Mallorca’s Part Forana. During the 2025-2026 school year, the regional Education and Universities Ministry spent €624,641 on smaller building works. The Balearic Institute for Educational Infrastructure and Services (Ibisec) carried out the work.

The money covers maintenance, alterations, accessibility changes and improvements to school buildings.

Roofs, ceilings and storm damage

At IES Calvià, €47,502 went on repairing the cladding of an overhanging section of the building and a gutter. CEIP Mestre Pere Garau in Son Macià received €23,309 to fix roof parapets and replace an internal door.

IES Can Peu Blanc had roof leaks fixed, its entrance-hall suspended ceiling repaired and roof tiles checked, at a cost of €23,724. Its boiler room was also refurbished for €48,033.

In Sóller, €44,579 was spent repairing overhanging sections at IES Guillem Colom Casasnoves. At CEIP Nicolau Calafat in Valldemossa, €44,460 paid for repairs to a crack in the stone façade covering.

Roof problems at IES S'Arenal in Llucmajor cost €38,486 to address. Repairs after heavy rain at CEIP Sa Marina de Llucmajor added €48,157.

Cooling, safety and school facilities

At Ceipieeso Son Basca in sa Pobla, corridor suspended ceilings were removed and replaced, while emergency lights were renewed in work costing €34,060. IES Sineu replaced fan coil units for nearly €20,000, and Ceipieem Simó Ballester changed the cooling installation in its early-years building for nearly €11,000.

CEIP Rei Jaume III in Llucmajor received temporary supports for the porch floor structure and building checks costing €21,025. The work is intended to ensure safety and assess the state of the structure. The new CEIP in Can Picafort spent €17,365 on catering equipment, including delivery, installation and commissioning.

Further smaller projects have been completed in Ariany, Bunyola, Capdepera, Esporles, Fornalutx, Inca, Manacor, Pollença, Santanyí, Selva, Sineu, Santa Margalida, Montuïri and Felanitx. They include electrical and communications work, heating and cooling upgrades, fire protection, accessibility changes, roof repairs and replacement of damaged parts.
