Mallorca Senate pact unites four, but Congress differs

Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, has a four-party left-wing list for the 2026 Senate election: PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca, Sumar and Esquerra Unida de Balears (EUIB) are joining forces. The parties announced the agreement on 17 October 2026. They will stand as Acord de Progrés per Mallorca.

The parties say they want a stronger voice for Mallorca in the Senate. Their priorities include better access to housing, workers’ rights, pensions and public services. They also want state institutions to respect the Balearic Islands’ territorial, cultural and linguistic differences. In their view, the election pits sharply different ideas for Mallorca’s future against each other.

The line-up changes for the Congress of Deputies. EUIB has welcomed a separate left-wing coalition for that election, but the PSIB is not part of it. EUIB says Podemos could not be brought into the Congress alliance at the last minute, despite its hopes. It says the parties made concessions during talks and will now focus on winning support at the coming elections rather than trading blame.
