Sixty teenagers from Mallorca, aged 15 to 17, are spending five days in Cantabria on an outdoor adventure programme. The second Multiaventuras Júnior trip runs from 31 August to 4 September and is organised by the Consell de Mallorca.

The group is surfing, canoeing and trying canyoning with abseiling, alongside horse riding, hiking, zip-lining and a paint game. The activities are intended to take them into new surroundings, test them and help them share the trip with people their own age.

Toni Fuster, the Consell de Mallorca's councillor for the presidency, said it is the institution's first programme to let 15- to 17-year-olds leave the island for this kind of experience. He said the five days are designed to help them gain independence and make new friends.

The stay covers five days and four nights. Direct flights between Mallorca and the mainland, coach transfers, full-board accommodation, activities and travel insurance are included.

The 60 teenagers join 220 people aged 18 to 30 who took part in Multiaventuras Joven. The Consell de Mallorca's outdoor leisure programmes have drawn 280 participants this summer.
