Mallorca trains return to usual timetable on 1 September

Mallorca trains return to their usual timetable from Tuesday, 1 September, with more frequent services and more trains each day than in August. Both tracks will also reopen between Son Fuster station and the Marratxí industrial estate, ending the single-track restriction on that stretch.

Both platforms at every station on the affected section will be back in normal use, the Balearic Islands Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility said.

Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca cut its service from 1 August, as it does each summer, to match lower passenger numbers. Since 2024, the regular timetable has continued throughout July, leaving August as the only month with reduced services.

This year’s summer changes also reflected work to enlarge and modernise the Son Rullan workshops. The railway operator needed to run trains on one track between Marratxí industrial estate and Son Fuster during the most disruptive stage of the project, which it scheduled for August to limit the impact on passengers.

The workshop project has an investment of more than €25 million and is intended to bring the facilities in line with the railway network’s current and future needs. It is part of the Balearic Government’s Islas en transformación plan and is mainly funded through the REIB insularity factor.
