76 migrants reach Formentera in five boats on Sunday
Seventy-six migrants reached Formentera on Sunday in five boats. Emergency teams rescued 49 people after three of the boats arrived, the Spanish Government Delegation said. Two other boats were located on the island during the morning.
Boats found during the afternoon
At 16.36, emergency teams intercepted a boat carrying 16 migrants 36 miles south-east of Formentera. The group included 11 people from sub-Saharan Africa and five from the Maghreb.
A minute later, another 16 migrants were found 0.01 miles north of Es Caló de Sant Agustí. At 19.00, teams intercepted 17 more people on the coast at Pilar de la Mola. All those in these two boats were from the Maghreb, according to the Government Delegation.
Two boats located earlier
Earlier on Sunday, a boat carrying 15 people was located at s'Estufador. At 13.00, teams intercepted another boat carrying 12 people from the Maghreb in the s'Algar torrent area.
