Mini-tsunami warning for Menorca on Wednesday

Menorca faces a mini-tsunami warning on Wednesday, while Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands are set for stable weather. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, has issued the warning for rissagas — sudden sea-level swings often called mini-tsunamis. No further effects or sea-level figures were given in the forecast.

Light to moderate easterly winds are expected across the Balearics, along with a light calima, meaning Saharan dust in the air. High pressure over the Mediterranean is expected to keep conditions stable across Mallorca and the other islands.

Elsewhere, a front moving in from the north-west is forecast to bring cloud and rain to north-western Spain and the Cantabrian coast. Western Galicia could see heavy showers, thunderstorms, hail and significant rainfall totals.
