Mallorca's Moreno wins canoe world final berth
Mallorca canoeist Ángeles Moreno has secured a place in Friday’s C2 500 medal final at the canoe World Championships in Poznan, Poland. Moreno and Viktoria Yarchevska won their heat on Wednesday, 26 August, in 2:02.88 — the fastest time across the three qualifiers. Their victory sends them straight to the final, avoiding a semi-final.
The pair will also race for medals in Saturday’s C2 200 final. The Real Federación Española de Piragüismo said all 13 Spanish entries progressed from their heats, with four going directly into medal races.
Sara Ouzande, Lucía Val, Daniel García and Bárbara Pardo won the K4 500 heat in 1:39.33 to reach Friday’s final. Cayetano García, Pablo Martínez, Manuel Fontán and Diego Domínguez took the men’s C4 500 heat in 1:38.27 and will contest Saturday’s final. Nine other Spanish entries, including Pablo Crespo, the men’s K4 500 crew and Paco Cubelos, must first come through the semi-finals.
